This Underground Home in the swiss village of Vals has me wide-eyed. What a stunning piece of architecture. And did you see that long dining table? That’s.what.I.want.one.day!
The house is a collaboration between the Netherlands architects at SeARCH and Christian Muller Architects.
(thank you marcel)
Yyyyep. That’s pretty awesome.

Amazing work, fantastic sympathetic solution with an ‘eye-poping’ view! Great hot tub.
Dec 15th, 2009 / 3:25 am
Wow, so modern and so nature-ey. I love the modern look of the inside, but the look of the outside. Great getaway home?

Mindblowing. I’d love to live there.
Dec 15th, 2009 / 3:53 am
How long it that table? By counting the chairs and spaces it looks like it is over 16′.
Dec 15th, 2009 / 6:01 am
Original ,Beautiful
Dec 15th, 2009 / 6:42 am
Looks like a Hobbit home. Because of that, I love it :D
Dec 15th, 2009 / 7:33 am
I was just going to ask, were the owners small little people with big hairy feet just back from a long trip to the mountains to dispose of a trinket.
Dec 15th, 2009 / 9:09 am
I would love to live there, it is so cool.
Dec 15th, 2009 / 10:03 am
I couldn’t help but think of the ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ house, except this is in inverse.
Dec 15th, 2009 / 10:07 am
Wowza! I want one.
Dec 15th, 2009 / 10:29 am
Endlich ein Erdhaus , in dem ich auch gerne wohnen würde, was für eine Freude
Dec 15th, 2009 / 11:26 am
Who’s the famous 20th century architect that built houses into hills? i forget his name….
Dec 15th, 2009 / 2:17 pm
Very swish… I love the way the wood is stacked up alongside the inside of the inner wall.
It will look even better with some grass surrounding it, it suspect it to be newly built and the grass not grown round the circle yet.
Dec 15th, 2009 / 2:19 pm
Amazing house, actually I like interior most. Look how is it hidden in this small village. Nice.
Dec 15th, 2009 / 2:23 pm
beautiful and innovative, would love to see some more interior pics ?
Dec 15th, 2009 / 4:09 pm
Really very interesting – I have to go to Vals to see that house!
Dec 15th, 2009 / 4:33 pm
unglaublich, die wohnung ist der wahnsinn. da was weiß man wieder, was man in der stadt nicht hat ;-)
Dec 15th, 2009 / 4:53 pm
I also want a table like that, but for real. This one is the result of an exaggerated perspective by the ultra wide angle lens.
Dec 15th, 2009 / 7:06 pm
Looks like an ultra-stylish version of Luke’s aunt and uncle’s house in Star Wars
Dec 16th, 2009 / 12:14 am
finally some fresh architecture.. wowo!
Dec 16th, 2009 / 3:35 am
What a lovely looking home!
It reminds me of the painting with upside down stairs and wonky ceilings.
I’d love to live somewhere like that, and have that view. Inspirational!
Dec 16th, 2009 / 11:13 am
Love it…
Dec 17th, 2009 / 2:55 am
I always love the idea of a hobbit house. great look, and hopefully energy efficient.
Dec 17th, 2009 / 10:43 am
I love this concept and idea, but I feel like its not executed as well. Theres so much raw concrete there is no way that place is not freezing cold- even being underground.
