Did anyone else notice that espresso is referred to as “expresso”. Typo alert!

Apparently I’m not the only one with that pet peeve. =P

Although it’s not the common spelling, I found “expresso” in the dictionary. Listed as “variant spelling of ‘espresso.'” Hmph.

Variant spelling indeed, everyone knows the x is for eXtreme.

Il est surtout dommage que dans “l’eXtrême” ..représenté ici par 6 personnes, qu’il n’y ait semble t’il, qu’une d’entre elle qui ne sache ouvrir un dictionnaire français !

Maître, my last comment was meant as a joke, but you are right I apologise. As espresso is not an English word (much like we use baguette) I guess we assumed it was a typo. Sorry.

oh i love this site, what a find. too fun. =) the espresso/expresso thing is interesting. i was going to comment that it is in fact spelled with an x in french, but glad maître capello stepped in. the power of nespresso is such that i wouldn’t be surprised by the french questioning the spelling themselves ! thanks for sharing yet another gem.

Note: All words on the left image are in French, including the French word for espresso “expresso.” Really people, a spectacular display of oversight. What a spectacular idea. Bonne idée pour un livre!

An impressive share! I have just forwarded
this onto a co-worker who had been doing a little research on this.
And he actually bought me lunch simply because I
stumbled upon it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this….
Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending the time to discuss this subject here on
your site.
