Zerply

I had fallen out of love with LinkedIn a long time ago, but last week’s sneaky move (read about it here) pushed me over the edge. What a lost opportunity. LinkedIn was built on such a fantastic core idea. And then they tried to be twitter-and-facebook-and-everything-else at once. Bummer.

But don’t worry, here’s a new service that seems to be getting it right: Zerply is a beautifully designed service that let’s you find like minded people by tags, skills, location and let’s you set up a public profile themed by world class designers.

You’re dreading entering all your information again? No worries, you can import all of your information directly from LinkedIn during the setup. Easy peasy.

I hope that Behance will strike a deal with them and let us display our portfolios on Zerply as well.

Hat tip to the team behind Zerply. They site is beautifully designed and well considered. Here’s my public Zerply my profile.

  1. Thanks so much for the post and kind words! :)

We are experiencing some heavy load right now thanks to the this awesome post so please hang tight if the site is slow. We are sending more server monkeys to work!

    – Luke (Designer @zerply)

  2. “Like.” Perhaps we can all connect on zerply!

  3. Nice post. I would also love some sort of of integration with Behance. I second that motion.

  4. Yeah, I’ve been sharing this one around as well. Still a bit quiet there, though. Hopefully more folks will come on board soon.

Thanks for bringing the awareness up!

  5. Another vote for Behance integration. Then my portfolio would be in all the right places at once and I can ditch relying on a icky linkedin profile!

  6. Resumes can be pretty again! Whoot!

  7. If you’re into Zerply you should also take a minute and check out PathTo: http://path.to/. They’re in private beta right now but just reply to this and I can get you an invite.

  8. Really? It “let us you” do all that?

  9. For the Swiss Miss readers. Here’s a private beta signup link for Path.To. http://path.to/signup/swissmiss

  10. Zerply’s pretty cool, huge fan of the design. I also use two other services:

Meeteor.com (founded by two Wharton guys),

Branchout.com (large team of succesfull entrepreneurs).

Branchout’s got an amazing network setup, and meeteor is focused on actually getting you the warm intros from within your network. Both aren’t nearly as well designed, but they’re pretty helpful!

  11. For me LinkedIn stepped far too many lines… I tried to delete my account in june. But instead of really deleting it, they just suspended it, and I still received e-mails (which is funny in itself, because I never received “network updates” before…) and people could see my profile without me being aware…
Today, one week after filing a complaint about this my account seems to get removed, finally.
I wonder if this is a common practice for keeping user-numbers in shape (I bet most people would have just ignored the e-mail notifications going on), or if it was really just an accident.

  12. Zerply is definitely heading in the right direction, but my major gripe is that unless you display your email on your public profile (spam-bot heaven) your vCard is blank and there are no other contact options provided, unless visitors link through to another social network. You can’t remove the blank card either, so it forces you into displaying your email.

Therefore settings for vCard content would be useful. Some more themes would be nice too.

  13. I feel as if everyone has missed the point of LinkedIn?

It’s a social network for professional networking, that has the social component in place. You can’t just jump to another network and expect to connect with people of value or importance.

  14. Zerply looks to have been beautifully put-together. I just set up a profile and was not confused once. Kudos to the builders.

  15. Really like the UX of Zerply and the idea of owning ones manifestatio/presentation of your professional work history/CV and streams. Do we really all present ourselves in most vanilla (and arguably not that great) way (Linked In).

I was set up and running in a few minutes flat. Cool that Linked In is using open formats (hresume http://microformats.org/wiki/hresume )

Aren’t they just another set of training wheels on the road to the #indieweb?

IMHO ever individual should have a URL (however simple or complex) pointing to a unique space where they own and manage all facets of their digital identity and personal brand. As Mark Hendickson /via @tantek (founder of Plancast) begins to discuss here:

    http://t.co/ihVDnJV

And @tantek has been rocking for some time with @falcon here: tantek.org

Would be interesting to where others think this should go?

  16. Corrected (sorry Tina):

Isn’t Zerply hey just another set of training wheels on the road to the #indieweb? And another silo?

  17. However, what one might not be conscious of is that coconut
oil is also known to be an antibiotic since it is capable of performing the same kinds of
tasks as they do, and work in the same mechanism like them.
I enjoy a tablespoon in my coffee in the morning and it tastes really good.
Saturated fats in fact, help the body burn fats and thereby
contribute to maintaining good health, she added.

  18. The best way to incorporate ginger into a bath is to first make
an infusion or decoction of ginger. The actual pot that you’ll get started with with regard to this specific technique needs to be at least four times as big as the actual ginger. It stops prostaglandins that cause inflammation and pain to the blood vessels.

  19. The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors at Mc
    – Graw-Hill has five members. Those people blamed this innocent oil for something she did
not do. There are many health benefits associated with coconut oil, so yes you can call them
omega 3 coconut oil benefits if you feel like it.

  20. In fact, it is a widely held view that all oils are bad for one’s health. My hypothesis is that Vitilago is a systemic fungal condition similar to, if not, Candidiasis (yeast overgrowth). With them, you can reap the full benefits of almond oil without any adverse effects.

  21. Thanks in support of sharing such a nice thought, post is pleasant,
thats why i have read it entirely
