stonehenge all over again.
Wally Wallington has demonstrated that he can lift a Stonehenge-sized pillar weighing 22,000 lbs and moved a barn over 300 ft. What makes this so special is that he does it using only himself, gravity, and his incredible ingenuity. This man is driven.

human brain cloud
Human Brain Cloud – a massively multiplayer word association “game” /experiment: The idea is that given a word, a player types in the first thing that comes to mind and the results are combined into a giant network.
For instance given the word “volcano”, a common word people might submit would be “lava”, and this would result in a very strong connection between “volcano” and “lava”. On the other hand, given the word “volcano”, fewer people might associate it with something like “birthday party”, resulting in a very weak connection or no connection at all. Over time and with many players, I hope the cloud will gradually grow to represent words and phrases people tend to associate with other words and phrases, assuming it doesn’t get inundated with spam. The cloud started with just one word, “volcano”. All other words were submitted by visitors to this site.

ratings: color bars instead of stars
Summize, a price comparison site, offers a new way of displaying ratings: colored bars, which summarize the reviews : the more green, the more positive they are. Where stars only give an average rating, those color bars really add some depth to the information. And I love how their rating system is graphically reflected in their fav-icon.
I agree wth David Abbet: Simple, elegant, useful.
swiss strolli stroller
Swiss Strolli Rider looks like a fun alternative to the ‘board’. I question the practicality factor though when it comes to taking public transportation or going into stores. A fun idea nonetheless.

electrobike
Marcus Levison-Hays’ Electrobike Pi (2007) combines the lightweight portability of a bicycle with speed and self-propulsion more akin to a motorcycle. A breakthrough in environmentally sound transportation, Pi may be the ideal for commuting transport. Considered a “human-electric hybrid,” Pi charges from any standard household outlet in 2.5–3 hours and can run on a single charge for 25–30 miles.

look, you got mail. real mail.
I hope our little Ella will embrace ‘snail mail’ as much as I do and did, when I was a kid. Maybe I should get her one of these Mail Boxes, by Melissa and Doug. Will she ever have a penpal? Or are penpals now email-pals these days?

the bread friend map
‘The Bread Friend Map is based on the Co-Pain idea (Copain=French for Friend; co=with and pain=bread). Each visitor can have a slice of a 2 meter bread and add a sticker with his name and connect to his friend on a map on the wall. The map shows the network of people who visited the exhibition and the read (or the lack of it) all the same people sharing one bread and becoming potential friends. LESS BREAD= BIGGER MAP=MORE FRIENDS.’
