People that don’t understand the picture: All the picture is trying to do is simplify it for those who have a hard time remembering or learns better from visual art in how many of what makes a gallon. The Q’s are quarts, P’s are pints, and C’s are cups. Here’s and example, if I want to know how many cups make a pint, just look at the picture. There’s 2 C’s inside of P making it per pint. Do you see the picture a bit more clearly now? It doesn’t matter if you want to know how many of what makes a gallon because there will always be 16 cups = 1 gallon. 8 pints = 1 gallon. 4 quarts = 1 gallon. They all equal 1 gallon.

I understand the picture but what about the “woman who swallowed a fly”?

“The woman who swallowed a fly” reference is probably because the gallon swallowed quarts to catch the pints that were swallowed to catch the cups. ;)
