A 5-year-old girl shields her face for a moment from a gust of wind with her favorite chicken, Steve, after running to catch him for 10 minutes on her father’s farm in Deary, Idaho. “One time I squished a chicken so hard that an egg fell out,” she said.
Steve the Chicken by Kevin German. Love (!!) this photo. (Yes, I am obsessed with chickens)
(via bblinks)
I figured out how to make swissmiss’ head explode:
a felt chicken!

I love this photo as well! I grew up in Idaho and my grandparents used to raise chickens on their farm when my mom was growing up. I can imagine this little girl being my mom when she was younger and chasing around the chickens in the coop.
Thanks for sharing!

Umm, that’s not called “squishing” the chicken.
And, umm, that wasn’t an egg.

This reminded me of the work of a local photographer and acquaintance of mine, Harold Lee Miller, here in Indianapolis.
Here’s a link to the work I mean:

He calls it fair/culture.
Enjoy the chickens and roosters! :)

What a great photo – there are days when I just feel like hugging my chooks like this too. Thanks

Oh, I love this picture, I have a similar picture of myself as a little girl, squishing my chick-of-the-moment. How loyal they can get, mine used to follow me around everywhere.
