We just did this for my daughter’s 16th birthday on Saturday night (she threw her first dinner party). I bought a good catering cloth at World Market and had a few tins of Sharpies on the table. If you do this method, put not one, but two layers of paper under the cloth! I also thought this would be something that would be added to each year. Not a chance…the kids filled it up and had a blast with it. It was their primary form of entertainment. It’s funny and wacky and she is convinced she can make a quilt out of it.

we actually had one of those pvc tablecloths when i was little aswell. especially for my sister and me when we were painting in our “malbücher”, so that we would not doodle on the table.

For our wedding 10 years ago, we ordered two big slab cakes with simple white icing. We placed them on a big table with icing “pens” beside them and invited our guests to write on them. Many memorable comments and lots of fun for our guests. Slightly different take on the PVC tablecloth idea.

I used to love drawing on paper table cloths as a kid. I am wary of using pvc anywhere, let alone around food. anyone have other materials ideas?
