“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels? While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

I watched Steve Jobs’ talk to the people at apple the other day (on youtube). He introduces the commercial they are to use which will change the face of Apple, which uses this quote.
It can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmG9jzCHtSQ&feature=player_embedded

It’s kind of interesting: the same text is printed on the TextEdit icon, you can check it out if you increase the size of the icon. :) It’s a letter written by John Appleseed to a girl named Kate. I thought it was a pretty cool idea.

“People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it” – http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/simon_sinek_how_great_leaders_inspire_action.html
So simple, so true, yet so many people/companies/parties ignore it. I’m glad a few don’t.

Apple is not fond of rules oh no – Well actually, there’s the proprietary cables, the constant attempts at DRM, the ‘stringent guidelines’ for app makers, the non-support for flash, no nudity etc. They’re not moving the human race forward one iota, but they’re making plenty of coin! And the people who believed that apple came out of the woodwork to save them from ‘the man’. Take a look now, apple is ‘the man’. I’m shocked that the art directors and designers of the world cannot see this.

Apple are a bunch of hypocrites. Beautiful quote though.
