I am beyond excited to share this amazing TED talk by my wonderful studiomate Jessi Arrington. And yes, Jessi is as bubbly and wonderful in real life. She is currently traveling and I can’t believe I can’t hug her right now! This is sooo huge that her talk is up on TED. Wheeee! (I am about to burst.)
Designer Jessi Arrington packed nothing for TED but 7 pairs of undies, buying the rest of her clothes in thrift stores around LA. It’s a meditation on conscious consumption — wrapped in a rainbow of color and creativity.
Yay, congrats Jessi! I’ve been hoping TED would post this for so long. Inspiring presentation, as always. :-)

Jessi’s talk was so bubbly and joyful! I’ve been concentrating on adding more color to my wardrobe, and now I’ll remember Jessi’s smiley face whenever I reach for another grey or black item at the store. Thanks for sharing, Tina!

Much to agree with here, but being a size six blond who is very attractive probably helps a lot. As a fatty, finding clothes at the thrift store is virtually never an option. it used to be when I was younger (and basically bought all my clothes there), but no more.

Jessi glows. I suppose it’s got something to do with the outfits, but not entirely. She’s like a hug magnet.

I just love your use of color. I love color, but I don’t really wear much of it. I like to put it in my work. I’ll take the advice of second-hand shopping.

I just got back from the thrift store myself! Didn’t find anything for me, but my husband found a rad western shirt and my daughter got a hot pink ski jacket. I want to go thrifting with Jessi!
