A huge part of Manhattan and most areas of Long Island are without power after hurricane Sandy. Electricity is such a huge part of our daily lives. My heart goes out to everyone affected. When I see kind moments like this, I can’t help but smile and think I <3 NYC.
Did you come across any other acts of kindness during the aftermath of Sandy? Post them in a comment below!
This is encouraging!

Some kids on Smith Street set up a hot cocoa stand yesterday. I only moved to Brooklyn four weeks ago (from the UK) and have learned a lot about my neighbourhood in the last few days – all of it good!

Supply donation drop-off set up in an apartment in Astoria, Queens for those evacuated/flooded in the housing projects next to the East River. They got so many donations, they had to shut down around 7pm… 2 hours earlier than expected.

This reminds me of Hurricane Ike when our dear neighbors across the street (who had power) helped us string a power cord through the trees and across the street to our house for 2 weeks!
