Ethan King is an inspiring 14 year old. At 10 he started Charity Ball to execute his vision of giving away soccer balls to kids in need. He has since given 4,000+ balls away. Humbling.

Something about this video really REALLY bothers me. I come from Africa, Mauritania specifically, and seeing these photos of kids holding makeshift soccer balls in front of makeshift goals doesn’t make me feel pity (even though I’ sure the soundtrack wants me to). These kids are being creative and resourceful. What’s wrong with that? As well-intentioned as Ethan is, I feel his initiative robs our kids of one of the positives of living in Africa, creativity.
