This Nope Button Chrome extension is just what the office world needs: A coworker drops by and wants to ‘pick your brain’? Press a button in your Chrome browser to send a call to your phone. Apologize sincerely as you pick it up. Then watch your co-worker walks away. Funny.
Oh, I really don’t like this—it reminds me of how people used to delightedly arrange to get “urgent” phone calls in case the online date they went on was lackluster. (It’s one thing to build in a safety check, but another to feign an emergency because someone isn’t as cute as goh hoped in person.)
It always felt disrespectful ajd like a bit of a cop-out—we should be able to articulate our needs to coworkers, whom we deal with every day! And tolerating a few minutes of mildly uncomfortable chitchat because someone needs to discuss a work matter with us is a reasonable part of the whole human social contract in my opinion.
Gee, I didn’t know a Chrome extension would strike such a nerve, haha. This just seems to cut to the core of the most selfish and frustratingly un-vulnerable behavior that I was always pushing against with my online dating clients. I like expecting better of people. :)

@virginia, I think it’s meant as a joke. Or at least, that’s how I see it.

Honestly this could be a life saver for people who work with over 40 people… it can be really distracting to have the lingering chatty people.
