Wood Peg

Wood Peg, by Studio Gorms, is quite a refreshing furniture concept. It’s a flexible furniture system made up of simple components, which can be assembled in a variety of ways to accommodate a multitude of scenarios. It can be just as easily disassembled, using no tools or fasteners. All components can be hung from a peg rail on the wall creating pleasing abstract compositions. Made me look.

Training Dresser

Peter Bristol is the designer behind this lovely children’s dresser called Training Dresser. Yes, you are seeing right, the drawers are shaped as their predetermined contents.

White Collection

The WHITE Light Collection by Ville Kokkonen designed for Artek is making me swoon. WHITE is an outcome of Artek Studio’s in-depth research on the use of light fittings in domestic, office and public spaces.

The collection consists of a, light-therapy certified bright light table lamp, a standing and wall light, a suspended light and a table light.

The Designer’s Train Table

I gasped at the sight of this train table. I want one for my kids and then also a conference room sized one for my studio. Oh, the fun that could be had! Designed by Tomm Velthius.

Slot-in Table

This foldable and easy to store table called Nzela made me rejoice. What a beautiful and practical design! I hope they’ll make one in all-white!

Bench Wildhaus

Oh my, I have flashbacks of my Swiss childhood looking at this bench. How good would this look in our studio? (spreading arms wide) SOOO good!

Casaurus

It’s a bookshelf. It’s an elephant dinosaur. It’s a climbing toy. It’s brilliant and called Casaurus. Hat tip to Koichiro Hoshino.

Le Klint

A beautiful pending light by Le Klint.

Table Tots

Our neighbor Jim down the hall makes fantastic furniture out of reclaimed bowling alley wood. The other day I walked by and saw this beauty of a kids booth called Table Tots. My little ones would get such a kick out of sitting at it. Another one of my favorites is this simple stool. Oh, and if you’re into cooking you’d love this massive Cutting Board.

Reversible

images by michaelsieber.com

Reversible is one of the latest inventions of Swiss Nicola Staubli. Reversible consists of steel tubes and fabric than can be assembled into four different seats. By flipping over the rear legs, the chair transforms into a lounge chair and vice versa. The reversible cover, tensed and wrapped around the steel frame, offers two color variations that fit both positions. Brilliant? I think so!

Rui Alves – Tour

Here’s a chair for bike fanatics: Tour by Rui Alves.

Perch Bunk Bed by Oeuf

This new bunk bed by Oeuf is a beauty. I never thought I’d say that about a bunk bed. Really.

Antti Pulli

Antti Pulli is the talent behind this fantastic chair. And wow, talk about a cool name. (Antti Pulli sounds almost as cool as my studiomate’s name, Larry Legend!)

Double Side Chair

This Chair/Table is by French designer Matali Crasset and is called Double Side Chair. The piece holds a double function, with one easy movement it can be transformed into a small desk, that can hold your laptop, writing paraphernalia, lunch, etc. Lovely.

Flux Chair

I just gasped at the sight of this ‘foldable’ chair called Flux. I would love to keep two of these in my trunk and unfold whenever a lounging opportunity presents itself. They would also look great in our studio! Oh, the possibilities!

Check out Jaime’s thorough post over on Design Milk.

Day Bed One

Day Bed One is a chic *and* practical piece of furniture: In the daytime use for lounging and additional seating and at night as a put-me-up for guests who just don’t want to go. What I really love about this Day Bed is that it can also easily be used as a coffee table. Nifty!

Oona

Now here’s a refreshing new take on a bedside table. Small items can be placed on the storage area, books can be leaned alongside the rear panel; magazines and newspapers can be stored against the slanted sectionm and by opening the flap, one can reach the inside of Oona. Interesting, no? Hat tip off to the designer Cordula Kehrer.

Remix Dining Table

The Hansen Family did it again. I’ve blogged about their stunning desk a while back and now, they *just* announced Remix, a beauty of a dining table which also functions as a work table. Remix exists in three models that offer abundant space for 6, 8 or 10 people. The solid tabletop of the Dining Table has two cases to either hide or present things. The cases are covered by plates which are made out of solid wood on one side and slated plates on the other so that hot plates can be posed in the middle of the table.

I would love one of these in our new apartment. Oh my!

(Thank you Gesa)

Pendant Light

This is a lovely idea for a bedside pendant light!

BrickBox

BrickBox is a modular bookcase composed of stackable boxes used to transport and store. Brilliant? I would say so!

(Wouldn’t this be perfect for a teenager that is soon going off to college!)

Tense Table

If I had to be reborn as a table in my next life, I would want to be the one above by by Piergiorgio Cazzanica. (I would kindly put in a request for renaming it though, it’s currently called Tense.)

nr1977 by MihaDesign

It does not happen often that a design has me speechless, but this desk-bed-loft construction just did. Naoto Mitsumoto and Naoko Hamana of MihaDesign were asked to renovate an old 770 sq apartment that was constructed in 1957. The designers were asked to propose a solution for the owners – a husband and wife with 4 kids – who desperately needed to come up with a creative use of the limited space. Who would think of putting boxes into this small apartment that not only serves as cozy bed-nucks but also offer a desk space above the beds. The kids can quietly read or study while comfortably dangling their feet above their beds. This is brilliant! Unbelievably brilliant! Read more.
