Oliver Jeffers ‘Heart and the Bottle’ iPad Version

Being a huge Oliver Jeffers fan, I am delighted to see that “Heart and the Bottle” will be available as an iPad Picture Book App starting december. I am hoping that “How to catch as Star” and “The Incredible Book Eating Boy” will be next.

Little Owl Lost

I am always looking for new Children’s Books ideas for our little Ella. That’s why I love reading 36Pages by Craig Frazier where he highlights children’s books that catch his eye. In his latest post he introduces Little Owl Lost by Chris Haughton. It instantly won my heart. How incredibly adorable are those illustrations? (I will order this for Ella asap. One holiday gift down! Yay!)

P&C Christmas Cracker

I haven’t really grown up with Christmas Crackers, but seeing these by Present and Correct, I wish I did. Made from graph paper, in Devon, each cracker will burst open (with a bang!) to reveal a foiled pencil, a tag notebook, wood rubber stamp, scrabble magnet, vintage animal eraser & finally a chocolate sixpence for luck!

MakeDo

Makedo is a reusable connector system that enables materials including cardboard, plastic and fabric to easily join together to form new objects or structures. How did I not come across this earlier? Think of the possibilities!

Nuzzles

Nuzzles are custom designed wooden typographic puzzles handcrafted by John Christenson. Every Nuzzle is crafted from a single block of wood, and the characters interlock with each other in a way that creates a sense of harmony and integrity. Want one? YES!

(The word Nuzzle is awesome. I just want to keep saying it over and over. Nuzzle. Nuzzle. Nuzzle.)

(Thank you Katherine)

Crazy Animal Magnets

I’ve always loved these body-assembling games/books when I was a kid. I am tempted to get these eight wooden magnetic figures, each consisting of 3 parts for Tilo and Ella.

Tapi

Tapi, by Dreamfarm, turns your faucet into a drinking fountain without disturbing the normal flow of water. Simply press the bottom of Tapi to change the flow of water. I agree with DesignMilk, this would be a big hit with kids. (they only need to be big enough to lean over the sink enough)

First Stop…

Once Tilo has his own room (in a few month’s hopefully, if everything works out as planned) then I’d like to hang one of these bedtime posters on his wall. What an adorable, typography driven, kids room print. Great gift too!

Multi Blocks

These MultiBlocks remind me of the colored math blocks we had in school in Switzerland when I was a whopping 7 years old. I vividly remember enjoying playing with them. Little did I know that they were tricking me into learning math! Ha! These MultiBlocks will find their way to casa swissmiss this holiday season.

Letterpress Y

I am in love with Jessica Hische’s Letterpressed Letter Posters. I especially love the Y, the O and the R. Check them all out over at JessicaHische.com. A perfect gift for new parents, or any type-lover that is.

NYC Stamps

Two iconic New York stamps—a taxi cab and the Chrysler Building—let you create handmade gift cards, wrapping paper and stationary inspired by the city that never sleeps. I wish they’d also include the Brooklyn Bridge and a hot dog stand. Or maybe a pigeon? Hmm…

Doll Dress Up Wall Stickers

How refreshing to see a doll dress up design that is not PINK! My 4.5yo daugther has (still) not come out of her pink phase, no end in sight, so it is understandable that this Autumn Dress Up Dolls by Mae caught my eye. Oh, how refreshing to see black, red and even gray?

This Dress Up Doll is a mini-set of “paper doll” style fabric wall decals. Unlike most wall decals on the market, which are made of vinyl, Mae’s stickers are printed on adhesive fabric. They are removable and completely reusable. YES! re-usable! They can be scrunched into a ball and will easily un-scrunch and re-apply to your wall, many times over. They are even washable, which is important when it comes to those precious yet impossibly grubby little ones!

According to the product description, wall stickers by Mae can be applied to almost any surface, and will not damage your walls. Maybe something for the upcoming holidays?

Charlotte Kids Table Set

Jimmy Chiang, the CEO of Way Basics sent me a note about their third generation design of their table set called Charlotte.

We have one of these sets, the second generation and it’s super sturdy, practical and good looking. What I love so much about Way Basics is that you can put it into recycling when you’re done with it. Let’s face it, kids furniture only has a shelf-life of a few years. Kids outgrow it or it breaks. The fact that I can take it apart and put it into recycling makes me happy and less guilty about owning a product that doesn’t stay with us for years on end.

And by the way, if your’e wondering if they are sturdy, as they are only ‘glued’ together, let me tell you they are. I sit on them daily, do crafty stuff with our Ella. It’s light weight yet sturdy furniture.

Two swissmiss thumbs up for Way Basics.

Zoom

The OXO Candela Zoom is an adorable bedside companion to ward off the darkness. LED lights provide eight hours of soothing light. Zoom lights up automatically when lifted from the charging base or if there is a loss of electricity. The charging base doubles as an optional nightlight that can be left on even when the Zoom is charging.

Prommis City

This is the perfect coat for any little world traveler. I might have to email the Etsy seller and ask if she would make a custom size for our 4.5 year old Ella. It’s crazy adorable.

The Yoshida Hishou Plane Kit

The Yoshida Hishou is an A-shaped plane with two reverse propellers. The design dates from 1911 when 3 A-shaped models successfully crossed over the Sumida River in a model plane contest. The kit uses balsa wood, ultra light white styrofoam, rubber bands, and 125mm reverse pitch propellers. It has a wingspan of 16″ and overall length of 18″. Complete illustrated instructions and glue are included. The kits are packed in boxes with handsome graphics in Japanese and English. A beauty, no?

DUEL savings bank

This is DUEL Savings Bank is a cool idea for siblings or a couple to challenge each other to save. Or maybe you have two things worth saving for, you’re just not sure which is more important… either way this bank is a fun way to make sure bills and coins are kept safe. The white porcelain can be easily written on and erased over, and you can retrieve your money by sliding off the red silicone band.

LEGO storage

LEGO Storage brick boxes? But of course! YES! Take toy storage in your living room to a new level. Made me smile.

(thank you Darren)

Baby Neck Warmer

Oh, those clever Swedes! Check out this smart Baby Neck Warmer! Anyone with a little one, living in a cold place like NYC knows that this totally makes sense! Which baby likes a scarf anyway?

quirky collective

Want to raise some very fashion-forward stylish little ones? Quirky Collective is for you. I especially love the aviator hood.

Robot Man

Check out this wooden, minimalist Robot Man. Love at first sight? Yes! Inspired by traditional japanese joinery, his wooden frame and elastic muscles enable him to hold all sorts of poses. Folds neatly into a cube for rest time.

Villa Voice

Villa Voice is home to six soft characters. Each of the characters has its own little story with a distinct sound. Thus, the stories in Villa Voice feature the six Ling sounds that make up the foundation of the child’s emerging language.

Kid’s Sky Umbrella

This Kid’s Sky Umbrella has swissmister writtien all over it.
