Eternal Helium Ballon

eternal helium balloons

How crazy cool are these Eternal Helium Balloons? (Love the cloud!)

They are entirely made of fabric and there is in fact no helium in them. They are stuffed with kapok, and feel like a soft pillow. A tiny flap fixed at the top allows mounting it to your ceiling. It is key to hang them up as high as possible, in order to recreate the magic illusion of a real flying helium balloon! The most beautiful effect is obtained in setting a bunch of balloons together, forming a “balloon bouquet”. All these pieces are delicately handmade in my own workshop in Paris, in limited edition.

Customizable Alphabet Plates

alphabet plates

Alphabet Plates are an easy, fun customizable gift option for little ones. The Customization interface is easy to use and the final plate looks and feels fantastic. (I can’t wait to give Ella her ‘Big Sister’ Plate come February 2010.)

alphabet plates

Alphabet Plates was created by Laura Paresky Gould, a graphic designer, artist and mom-of-three. The BPA-free plates product line is an environmental answer to disposable plates and are break-resistant. And here’s something to make you feel even better about buying one of their items: a portion of your payment is donated to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (www.oif.org).

ABC Oddity

ABC Oddity from autofuss on Vimeo.

ABC Oddity is an adorable Alphabet iPhone app for your little one. Begin at the menu where your child can choose a letter and enter a magical hand-drawn world. Your offspring can touch the illustrations to see words in written form and hear them pronounced. Swiping and shaking will allow your child to explore other richly populated letter worlds. (I admit though, iPhone apps that want toddlers to ‘shake’ the phone make me nervous. Ella has turned my iPhone into a bonafide missile a few times…)

Here’s the link to ABC Oddity on iTunes.

Embrace by John Green

embraceembrace

John Green’s Embrace Shelf/Table had me gasp for air upon seeing it over at MinorDetails. Embrace can start off as a great table and bench for junior then a shelf/bench for the big kids down the road. Yay for adaptable furniture.

Lego Walkie Talkie

Lego Walkie Talkie

These petite walkie talkies with a Lego patterned front work up to a 3000 foot range and include volume control and push-to-talk functions. Each is topped with a clip at the back… so you can attach it to your belt loop and pretend you’re a secret agent or something like that (it’s pretty intimidating).

iStoryTime

iphone app screenshot

I seriously don’t know how my parents were ever able to take my sister and me to a restaurant and actually enjoy a meal without having a device like the iPhone at their fingertips. My iPhone is loaded up with educational fun games for Ella and I am happy to have discovered iStoryTime:

Aiming to provide a more enriching experience than simply playing with the buttons or watching movies, iStoryTime is a new iPhone application that’s designed to bring stories to life. iStoryTime’s self-navigating and self-narrating book application is designed for use even by two-year-olds, flipping the pages automatically while the child follows along. Kids can choose between two narrators—an adult or a child’s voice—or read the book on their own. In addition, the words to the story are included onscreen so beginning readers can make associations between what they hear and the words they see.
