As someone who loves podcasts and also runs one this made me laugh. (Wish though the left out the very end. Seems odd.)

I know, I posted this print by Anthony Burrill before. It’s one of my favorite pieces of art in our Friends Work Here work space. Two simple reminders. So much impact.

♥ / Boomslank

Big thanks for Boomslank for sponsoring my blog and RSS feed this week.

Boomslank is an original anime t-shirt brand run by three brothers. They started Boomslank because they noticed a lot of the anime tees out there relied heavily on already licensed artwork. They set out to create an anime brand that was strictly based on original artwork. Check out their tees and posters over on boomslank.com.

New Yorkers vs the Subway

Oh don’t we all know that feeling of JUST missing the subway train: “There is no quintessential NYC experience quite like running down a subway station platform with your arms flapping all about like a distressed penguin, making eye contact with the conductor, and then hesitantly stretching out your hand to try to slip between the doors before they close.”

Action Button

Often when we read the news we feel compelled to do something but we don’t know how. Action Button is an interactive technology featured on news content to make it faster and easier for you to impact the stories you care about — whether by donating to a nonprofit, signing a petition, or emailing a local policymaker. Don’t just read the headlines, change them.

Love where this is going.

Tattly on National TV

Yesterday Yng and I were invited to be on Tamron Hall’s live show over at MSNBC to talk about Tattly. What an incredible experience and honor for our company. I have become a person that talks about temporary tattoos on national tv. Someone please pinch me!

Sizing Chart

sizing chart reinvented

Leave it to a small company to make a simple thing as a t-shirt sizing chart less boring. Well done, Boomslank.

It’s little details like this that make me appreciate a company.

Bunnie Reiss

I am dreaming of a pair of cosmic animal gloves by Bunnie Reiss on my living room walls. They’re hand painted and quite magical.

To-Do List Make Over

“One of the reasons that so many of the tasks on our to-do lists end up woefully undone is because we have to go to meetings, and we have to do email; they create their own urgency. But if you want to make sure that you regularly accomplish meaningful work—the type of work that helps you advance your career, push forward important projects, or expand your skill set—you have to make time for it. (Productivity guru Stephen Covey calls this putting the “big rocks” in first.)

It so obvious yet I have never done it, but carving out time for ‘meaningful work’ is the first thing I’ll start doing after reading this article by Jocelyn G. Klei.

The Invisible Dog | Season 8

The Invisible Dog is my work home. I am lucky to be part of this wonderful community of artists and creators. (My businesses run out of the ‘office space’ side of the building) Every year Lucien, the director of this cultural hub, runs a Kickstarter to help keep the lights on.

In a city where everything is making room for shiny new condo buildings, the Invisible Dog is a refreshing reminder on how important is to create an affordable studio space for artists.

If you, just like me, appreciate what Lucien is doing on Bergen street, help me support his Invisible Dog Kickstarter Campaign!

Ping Pong FM

Ping Pong FM is a musical take on table tennis. Choose a song and keep it playing at the correct tempo by keeping the ball in play. Rally too slowly, or drop the ball, and the music will wind down to a stop. Made me laugh!

The Artist

“It seems that two qualities are necessary if a great artist is to remain creative to the end of a long life; he must on the one hand retain an abnormally keen awareness of life, he must never grow complacent, never be content with life, must always demand the impossible and when he cannot have it, must despair. The burden of the mystery must be with him day and night.”
