A pricy but very, very stylish laundry basket.

American Made: Simple Peace Bags
Martha Stewart is currently running the American Made competition and my vote goes to DeAnna Reposa’s Shopping Bag System. It all started when she wanted to use reusable bags but couldn’t find a bag that she liked. Each bag had either a store logo or was made of materials that were too flimsy to keep the food safe from getting smashed. So she created her own.
All Simple Peace Bags are made in the USA of either recycled, organic or sustainable fabrics. My favorite is the Farmers Market Bag!
Zen Pen
Zen Pen is a storage unit for pens that also holds paper clips with the hidden magnets below the bamboo surface. Lovely.
Do Your Best
This Three Potato Four felt pennant is based on an original 1950’s Cub Scout motto pennant. I need one above my desk.

Job Wouters keeps the dying art of hand-drawn art alive. Interesting post over on FastCo.
CreativeMornings Video: Kelli Anderson
Our speaker at the July 2012 CreativeMornings here in New York was the charming and incredibly talented Kelli Anderson. She is an artist/designer and tinkerer who is always experimenting with new means of making images and experiences. You might have seen her TED talk, or maybe her paper record player? She is one of my all-time favorite designers. And she makes amazing fudge.
A big thank you to XO Group for hosting us in their beautiful office space. And a big thank you to Ben Hallman for filming + editing the video.
Ping-Pong Conference Table
A conference table that is beautiful AND works as a ping pong table gets my vote. Well done Poppin!
Bill Moggridge
“Few people think about it or are aware of it. But there is nothing made by human beings that does not involve a design decision somewhere.”
– Bill Moggridge
Saddened over the loss of design pioneer Bill Moggrdige, director of the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum
Grip for iPad
I recently got myself the STM Grip iPad Case. It is fairly slim and comes with two kickstand settings for typing and viewing. My iPad feels well protected from my rambunctious 2 year old, so I’d say mission accomplished. Two swissmiss thumbs up.
(If you’re looking for an extra fun kids proof iPad case, there’s no better one than the iGuy)

Doggy
Doggy is a rather difficult to read (but highly amusing) font-family rendering words as dogs through the OpenType ligature feature. Depending on the length of a word the dog respectively gets longer or shorter. One letter words result in a sitting dog.

Satchel
My daughter started first grade yesterday and it made me think of my first day at school and how proud I was of my red leather Satchel. It was almost identical to the one above. Oh, the memories.

The Story of Polaroid
This coming October, Princeton Architectural Press is publishing a new book titled Instant: The Story of Polaroid by Christopher Bonanos. It documents the story of visionary genius founder, Edwin Land, and how he grew Polaroid from a 1937 garage startup into a billion-dollar pop-culture phenomenon. Steve Jobs considered Land a personal hero and modeled Apple after Polaroid.
Designweek Portland
There’s only one place I’d like to be during the week of October 9-13 and that place is Portland, Oregon. Why? Designweek will be happening and I am honored that CreativeMornings will be part of it!
Every creative city needs one of these! Go organize yours!
UPDATE: Of course there are T-W-O places I want to be that week, as Brooklyn Beta is happening as well!
The Internet Map
The Internet Map is a bi-dimensional presentation of links between websites on the Internet. Every site is a circle on the map, and its size is determined by website traffic, the larger the amount of traffic, the bigger the circle. Users’ switching between websites forms links, and the stronger the link, the closer the websites tend to arrange themselves to each other.
It encompasses over 350 thousand websites from 196 countries and all domain zones. Information about more than 2 million links between the websites has joined some of them together into topical clusters.
Happy to report, I was able to find myself on there! Yay!

The Cigar Shop
Made By Hand just launched their 4th short titled The Cigar Shop. It’s about Dominican immigrant Don Antonio Martinez who started a small shop in New York City in 1974 selling hand rolled cigars. Thirty-eight years later his son, Jesus, carries on the tradition. The shop combines craftsmanship with community, mixing equal parts work and play.
Simply Beautiful. I heart NYC.

Plush Organs
I Heart Guts makes seriously fabulous Plush Organs. Yes, I said plush organs. The designs are fun and they’re cuddly but the best part are the tag lines, i.e I’m a Liver, not a Fighter or Womb Service for the Uterus.
I Heart Guts is the brainchild of an anatomically obsessed illustrator, Wendy Bryan, who loves internal organs and all they do. I’ve had the pleasure to meet Wendy at the Gift Fair a few weeks back and her unique personality made me love her products even more.
Psst… Heart of Gold Lapel Pin makes for a fantastic small gift!
