B&M Wool Felt Macbook Sleeve

What a beauty! This 100% wool felt Macbook sleeve by B&M, was designed to fit the Apple range of MacBooks, Macbook Pros and *NEW* Macbook Airs perfectly. Snug as a bug in fact. It sums up the B&M design philosophy perfectly; there are no frills, no noisy velcro, no exotic superfluous add-ons and no cumbersome zips or fasteners.

These photos of the 1908 London Olympics are all kinds of wonderful. Oh, how the times have changed.

Then and Now

This touching NewYorkTimes Interactive Feature documents some of the athletes who represented the United States at the 1948 London Games.

Above you see Alice Coachman, the first black woman to win an Olympic gold medal, and the only female American athlete to win gold in track and field at the 1948 Games.

Astro

Astro adds pan and tilt movement to your camera, and it allows you to set up time lapse programs by defining the duration, the range of movement; which goes from 0 to 360°, and the interval in degrees or seconds in which you want the photos to be taken.

I am happy to see that this Kickstarter project has already reached its goal even though it still has 16 days to go.

Century of the Child

I am blown away by MoMA’s Century of the Child – Growing by Design Exhibit site . What looks like a site entirely done in Flash, is apparently built in HTML5. Impressive! Congratulations to Hello Monday for the design and development.

And, of course, I can’t wait to see the exhibit this week.

Success

♥ / The Define School

A big thank you to The Define School for sponsoring this week’s RSS Feed.

The Define School is an unprecedented online learning cooperative aiming to meet the various needs of evolving photographers. Define’s online courses, for both professionals and hobbyists, offer an array of resources to enhance students’ growth in the photographic arts.

Rather than learning from a book or set of instructions, Define students learn through personal interaction with experts: photographers who have given much of their lives to learning their crafts. All classes are intentionally kept small in order to cultivate mentoring relationships between instructors and their students.

Whether students use photography as a means to capture the moments of their lives, grow their businesses, or better understand the world around them, The Define School exists to excite, educate, and empower its students!

Elizabeth Gilbert in conversation with Paul Holdengraber

Listen to Elizabeth Gilbert speak about being the ‘bodyguard of her time’ and how she learned to say no. What a thoughtful, knowledgeable woman she is! Elizabeth also gave my all-time favorite TED talk.

Managing Email Realistically

To effectively manage our email, we have to accept a few basic truths. They’re hard truths, but that only makes them even more valuable. Here they are:

– What’s important to other people is not (as) important to you.

– You are inherently lazy and egocentric.

– Ruthlessness is a hell of a time-saver.

With those facts, we have the basis of a truly workable email-management system.
