There’s still time to support the project as Authentic Jobs celebrates its 7th birthday!

LEGO Anatomy

Ever wondered about the anatomy of a LEGO figure? Here you go.

We Are Lucky

What would you do if you suddenly were given A LOT of money? The person behind we-are-lucky.com decided to pass on his/her good luck to others by giving away £1,000 every day. He/She (?) planned to give the money to complete strangers – someone different every time – and all he’d ask is that they’d do something positive with the cash, basically sharing the responsibility that came with it.

The person behind We Are Lucky seems genuinely concerned about how the project is perceived. The site is a sincere documentation of the memorable characters the person has encountered, the impact of the money and the remarkable stories collected along the way.

Symbolset

My seriously awesome studiomates of Oak Studio just launched Symbolset, a semantic symbol font. It maps symbols to semantic keywords instead of letters, the first icon font of its kind to make this happen. Symbolset works in any desktop application where OpenType features are supported, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and more.

Dont’ get it? Just imagine you type heart and you instantly get a symbol of a heart. Cool? Yes!

How To Break Habits

Charles Duhigg, author of the The Power of Habit, explains that by simply diagnosing your habits, you can change them. I am totally going to be looking for my ‘cues’ now.

Don’t Think.

“Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things.”

The Slow Web

“Timely not real-time. Rhythm not random. Moderation not excess. Knowledge not information. These are a few of the many characteristics of the Slow Web. It’s not so much a checklist as a feeling, one of being at greater ease for the web-enabled products and services in our lives.”
– Jack Cheng

Budge

Budge reminds you to do certain things. Want to get better in flossing your teeth? Drink more water? Stretch? Get up more and walk around? Budge might help.

Change

“Change is not a bolt of lightning that arrives with a zap. It is a bridge built brick by brick, every day, with sweat and humility and slips. It is hard work, and slow work, but it can be thrilling to watch it take shape.”
