Copper Mountain Style

photo-223

The Copper Mountain PR Peeps made me laugh with the contents of a package I just opened! They sent me a note that started with “Dear attractive male or female blogger” and ended with “ps: I hope you enjoy the goods I sent along with this letter. Straight up bribe style. Just like the 70’s.” It made me laugh and the glasses are just fab. Oh, and yeah and check out the nationalsnowday movies and learn more about the movement. I’ll go and show off these fab glasses to my studio mates now.

playlist.io | add audio, listen from the ‘cloud’

picture-16

Drop.io just launched a new applet called ‘playlist.io‘ – it is a dead simple way to post your music to the cloud in 3 clicks, and then stream it basically anywhere you want to play it (home, work, etc) — there is a demo video explaining how to use it.

Using the newly release API base iPhone application ‘droppler‘ you can even stream your playlist right to your iphone… there is a bit more at the drop.io blog if you are interested.

Recovery Stamp

aara_logo_2jpg

President Obama announced today that his administration will begin stamping an emblem on projects funded by the economic stimulus package so that people can easily recognize the effects of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Oh, I can already see the many T-Shirts/Mugs/etc making fun of this pop up all over…

Urban Camouflage

tueten04jpg

Urban Camouflage deals with the question how to camouflage oneself and one’s identity in the urban space. Our costumes are inspired by the «ghillie suits», the military camouflage suit. It was an adventure to wear the suit in the stores because of the conflicts with the employees , the reaction of the customers and also to see the pretty well camouflage effect in a real situation.

Made me laugh!

CreativeMornings with Armin Vit

creativemorning_march09_full

I am excited to be announcing our upcoming March CreativeMornings with Armin Vit on March 13, 2009. Armin will be speaking about branding and brand experiences without pretense and with just enough sarcasm and irony to make your morning a little more interesting. If you want to brush up on his style ahead of time I’d recommend checking out the blog / column / branch of underconsideration, Brand New.

This month’s networking breakfast/lecture series is being generously hosted at HUGE in Dumbo. YAY!

Interested in attending? Make sure to r.s.v.p via email as there are only 50 spots available. We are filling up quickly. Please tell us your name and what industry you’re in. (We will send you a confirmation email with all the necessary details for the event.) I am sorry but we’ve already reached our limit, we can no longer accept r.s.v.p’s.

A post covering last week’s CreativeMornings with Matthew Waldman alongside with the full video of the event will be coming shortly.

I agree with Noah: That’s So Yummy’s list of ways restaurants could optimize their menus is interesting. (originally in Food Network Magazine which isn’t online).

British Bus Rollsign Route Numbers

picture-10

Three Potato Four strike again: These Route Number rollsign segments were taken from an old bus rollsign that ran in the city of Leeds in the U.K. The signs date back to approximately the 1960’s and are printed on heavy cloth vinyl (very durable). Number two might soon hang in swissmiss studio (that is, if office mates approve!)

Readablity

Lab.Arc90 just launched Readability, a browser bookmarklet (sort of like a bookmark on steroids). Install it by visiting the Readability setup page.

Steve Jobs is an Industrial Beethoven

Peter Hossli recently interviewed author and management guru Jim Collins for Swiss magazine Bilanz. He talks about how great leaders are driven to do great things. He elegantly links Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Ludwig van Beethoven:

What does Jobs have that others don’t?

Collins: Steve Jobs is an industrial Beethoven. I think that the Macintosh is like the Third Symphony. And the iPod is like the Fifth Symphony. And maybe the iPhone is the Seventh Symphony. I admire his dedication to creating great things, tremendously. He’s one of the people I really admire.

So Jobs might be admired for the wrong things. He mostly took existing ideas, put them together and turned them into great things.

Collins: They’re no great things without the supreme execution around them. A lot of other people have the same ideas. A lot of people could have had the idea of “Bum bum bum baba baba bum [humming Beethoven’s Fifth].” But not everybody could have written the Fifth Symphony.

Jack Cheng on Denial

denial2

Good denial is marked by action; it’s a reason to do something, rather than an excuse to stay the same. When everyone else says “it can’t be done,” good denial finds a way to do it.
